ABOUT & CONTACT

Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński is an artist, writer and researcher based in Vienna. Her transdisciplinary practice is rooted in Black feminist theory and practice. Working with the gaps and voids in historical archives and public collections, she creates research-based, process-oriented works that explore the conditions of Black life in the African diaspora. Moving between documentation and speculation, she develops layered narratives that collapse linear time and rigid spatial boundaries, working across video installation, photography, ceramics and text.
Her work has been shown at the Biennale of Sydney (2026), Berlinale Forum Expanded (2026), CAPC musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, ISCP New York, La Ferme du Buisson, the Liverpool Biennial (2023), Art X Lagos (2023) and Les Rencontres d’Arles, and will be included in Sharjah Biennial 17 (2027). Solo exhibitions include Kunst Meran/Merano Arte (2025), Coalmine – Raum für Fotografie (2023), Camera Austria Graz (2022), and Kunsthalle Wien (2021). Her monograph H(a)untings / Heim Suchungen, with contributions by Christina Sharpe, Kapwani Kiwanga, Onyeka Igwe and others, was published by Sternberg Press in 2023.
Her works are held in public collections including mumok – Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, the Belvedere, Vienna, the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP), Paris, the Wien Museum and the Tiroler Landesmuseen, Innsbruck.
Her awards include the Otto Mauer Prize (2023), the Art X Prize African Diaspora (2022) and the Camera Austria Award (2021). Her postdoctoral project Temp/rovisations: Imagining African Diaspora Time*Spaces (2025–2029) is funded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and based at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna.
